Looking for alternate food to Eukanuba Moderate Ph/O feline...?My cat, Symba, was put on Eukanuba Moderate Ph/O (feline) a number of years ago because of Feline Oxalate Bladder Stones. To prevent reoccurrence (and another $2000 surgery), my vet put Symba on this Rx cat food for the rest of his life. Because I have 3 cats, I ended up having to give this expensive prescription medicine to all 3 cats (They don't just eat out of their own bowls all the time, ya know). So, it costs me a pretty penny to have all 3 cats on this Rx diet. I am looking for an alternate that might be more cost effective but serves the same purpose. In addition, it really annoys me that the bags come in 5.5 lb only. I live out in the country and would like to buy a bigger bag each time. I end up buying 2 bags on every trip, then I am back in a month or so to get more. It gets frustrating! Any vets out there that know of something just as good? Or a discount vendor where I can get the product cheaper? Right now, I pay about $35 for 11 lbs.
I do not know an alternative to buy, but I do believe you can control your cats diet. We have eight cats in our home. We have three with special needs. Therefore, we have learned different ways of feeding the little critters. We feed one in the bathroom, with the door closed, etc. What I'm trying to put across here, is you may not find an alternative food, but if your other kitties do not require the expensive food, you can save yourself a few bucks by putting some effort into controlling when and where your kitties eat. Its not cruel to feed them different foods. The other ones may not like the change, but you will find a food they like in time. Good Luck
