Bowling Ball Columbia
[phpzon]bowling, 30, SportingGoods[/phpzon] What is wrong with my bowling form?i'm a recreational player looking to boost my average. I believe the answer i am looking for is in my lack of power. I know for a fact my back swing is wrong. I throw a pitcher's hook, rather than the pendulum hook i wish to throw. To clarify, I use all my arm strength to carry my 16 lb Columbia 300 Momentum and chuck it down the lane with tons of revs and minimum speed. Average 160 and my high is 211. Which brings me to my point: When i try the pendulum motion it hurts my wrist and strains my forearm... Why does it hurt? i have forearm built up from years of tennis and a flexible shoulder that falls well with it. I do have a fingertip drilled ball (which was originally drilled for someone else and is MAYBE 1/2 an inch too small.) Please help me. i believe the pace will reduce the affect of the massive spin and let me attack the pocket on more various lane conditions. Thank You For Your Time. P.S: if you're looking for a ball, the Momentum is GREAT!! hits like a truck.
It's hard to say what's wrong with someone's form without actually seeing it first hand. From the sounds of things 1st you need to get the Momentum redrilled to fit you. The 1/2 inch size difference is causing you the pain. With today's equipment the bowler doesn't have to do as much work to get the ball to hook. A lot of rotation can be created with just the fingers and proper leverage. I would seek out your local pro shop operator or bowling coach/pro to watch your game and give you feedback. I'm sorry I can't help more than that but evaluation a form is something that is better done in person. Good luck and good bowling. I would recommend going to the Kegel Training Center in Florida. I recommend trying to set up an appointment with Joe Slowinski (tell him Chris George sent ya)
