[phpzon]Bowling Balls Equipment, 30, SportingGoods[/phpzon] Bowling Question and Equipment?

I just joined a bowling league and I been practing for several months still I have more bad games than good. my ? is does anyone recommend getting my own bowling ball or use the house balls to get better. I heard house balls aren't that proficent n if anyone knows how 2 hook a ball plzz let me know the trick thank u very much

Since all house balls are drilled generically as a conventional grip ball, and are mostly basic urethane or plastic, it is not a good option to use when trying to improve your game. 1. Get fitted by a pro shop and select from a wide variety of bowling balls from rubber to reactive resin/particle coverstocks made by various manufacturers. 2. Let the driller know how your game is currently, so that he or she can match you up with the perfect equipment that works with your delivery, release and lane conditions bowled on. 3. Learn the basics of bowling by reading books, receiving lessons or watching DVD's. 4. Either take lessons given by certified bowling coaches or "self teach" yourself by way of experimentation, visuals by watching the PBA on TV or watching advanced or professional bowlers during scratch leagues. 5. Accessorize your arsenal with a spare ball that has virtually no friction on lane, "strike ball" with selected coverstocks or core shapes, "grips" or "no grips", bowling bag, bowling shoes, comfortable span (fingertip, conventional, semi-fingertip or relaxed fingertip), bowling glove, wrist support and hand conditioner/rosin bag/slide assist powder bag for your shoes to prevent sticking on the approaches. Regarding hooking the ball, just take your time when learning to hook it and remember to cup the ball with your wrist when addressing it and before you start your approach, twist your hand slightly counterclockwise (for right handers) around the ball when releasing (but dont force the motion otherwise it will spin) and finish up with your arm straight towards your target and your hand looking like you just shook someone's hand. The ball will go straight, but will hook due to your wrist action after release. Try to use muscle memory by releasing the same way everytime so that you can remember how to throw a hook most of the time, but don't forget how to throw a straighter ball for spares and when lanes are hooking way too much. Good luck!
