What do we get a colleague as a retirement present?

I have a colleague who will be retiring in a week or so. We are racking our brains at work as to what to buy him. He is 65, unmarried and his only major interests are crown green bowls. He has however have no requirements for any bowls, clothes, etc. We have around £500 to spend on him. Is just giving him the cash the best answer

Anything but a clock.
Give him the cash to get what he wants.
